Quick Overview
The Thunder series delivers an exceptionally powerful solution with up to two laser sources: Alexandrite 755 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm, available as single sources or combined with the exclusive Quanta Mixed Technology®.
Quanta Mixed Technology®
In the Thunder MT version, this innovative technology enables a wide range of hair-removal treatments, as well as vascular and skin-rejuvenation treatments. It allows operators to perform hair removal on medium and darker skin types safely and with maximum efficacy, all year round.
OptiScan TH
The new OptiScan TH, featuring exclusive technology, is a scanner handpiece that distributes laser energy evenly and rapidly over large areas while preventing unnecessary pulse overlap. Its exclusive AutoMotion technology enables hair-removal treatments with little to no pain, at maximum precision.
Quanta Handpieces
This exclusive technology creates a super-elliptical spot shape and an adapted Gaussian beam profile, overcoming the limitations of traditional spot shapes — increasing treatment speed, safety and efficacy.
Qool-Air
Qool-air — an exclusive skin-cooling system available for Quanta System’s Thunder series. It is compatible with the Skin Cryo and Skin Cryo TH handpiece adapters. This compact yet powerful system can cool large areas of skin for maximum comfort during treatment, and is controlled directly from the laser’s screen. Qool-air is the ideal solution for combining skin-cooling power with maximum space saving.

Mixed Technology — Two Wavelengths, One Output
Thunder’s advantage is not just how many wavelengths it has, but how they are emitted. In Quanta Mixed Technology®, the two wavelengths — Alexandrite (755nm) and Nd:YAG (1064nm) — are emitted through a single output, simultaneously or sequentially, so both act together on the treatment area. The combination unites the Alexandrite’s high melanin absorption with the Nd:YAG’s penetration depth and safety.
This is an important distinction versus diode devices marketed as “mixed” or “blend”: in diode systems, the different wavelength sources sit side by side and emit at adjacent points — they are not unified into one output. In Thunder, by contrast, the two wavelengths are combined and act together on the same treatment area.
| Aspect | Thunder — Quanta Mixed Technology® | “Mixed/blend” diode laser |
|---|---|---|
| Wavelengths | Alexandrite 755nm + Nd:YAG 1064nm | Adjacent diode modules |
| Emission | Single output, simultaneous or sequential | Separate sources side by side |
| Area coverage | OptiScan TH scanner for fast, even coverage | Depends on applicator configuration |
Why Clinics Choose Thunder
Thunder treats a broad range of skin types, including darker and tanned skin (up to Fitzpatrick VI) all year round — a capability that comes primarily from the Nd:YAG (1064nm) wavelength, suited to safer work on darker tones, while the Alexandrite (755nm) excels on lighter skin. Quanta System is an Italian laser manufacturer operating since 1985 — over 40 years of experience. Lee Daniels, Quanta’s importer in Israel since 2006 supporting 600+ clinics, provides clinical training, local service and maintenance, and AMAR-registered equipment, ISO 9001:2015. Frequently Asked Questions — Thunder
What is Mixed Technology?
Emission of two wavelengths — Alexandrite (755nm) and Nd:YAG (1064nm) — through a single output, simultaneously or sequentially, so both act together on the treatment area, uniting high melanin absorption with penetration depth and safety.
How is Thunder different from a diode laser?
In a “mixed” diode laser the wavelength sources sit side by side and are not unified; in Thunder the two wavelengths are emitted through a single output and act together on the same area. Thunder also includes the OptiScan TH scanner for fast, even coverage.
Which skin types is Thunder suitable for?
A wide range of skin types, including darker and tanned skin up to Fitzpatrick VI, thanks to the Nd:YAG (1064nm) wavelength. Final suitability is determined by the treating physician’s clinical assessment.
